The Association Mourns The Passing Of Our Past President - Major Eugene Clifford Cross RMAF (Rtd)

Dear Association Members,

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Past President, Eugene Cross and Founder of the Psoriasis Association of Malaysia.

For 36 remarkable years, Eugene devoted himself wholeheartedly to serving the psoriatic community. His unwavering dedication, selfless leadership, and uplifting spirit inspired many to step forward and serve alongside him. His impact on our community is immeasurable.

Even while facing serious health challenges, Eugene continued to contribute tirelessly, demonstrating extraordinary courage and commitment until the very end.

The Psoriasis Association of Malaysia (PAM) announces with deep sadness the passing of its founder and long-serving President, Major (Rtd) Eugene Cross, 83, who passed away this morning after a long illness.

Since founding the Association in 1987, Eugene dedicated nearly four decades to championing the welfare of Malaysians living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. A patient himself since 1970, he was driven by personal conviction to ensure that those affected received greater understanding, recognition, and support.

He successfully secured official registration for PAM, establishing it as a credible national voice for patients. Under his leadership, the Association expanded its outreach, kept members informed of advances in treatment, fostered partnerships locally and internationally, and advocated for patients’ rights — including efforts that contributed to income tax relief for psoriasis-related treatment expenses.

Eugene will be remembered for his steadfast leadership, humility, compassion, and deep faith.

Pemergian Major (Bersara) Eugene Cross (Pengasas Persatuan Psoriasis Malaysia)

Persatuan Psoriasis Malaysia (PAM) dengan rasa sedih yang mendalam ingin memaklumkan pemergian pengasas dan Presiden jangka panjangnya, Major (B) Eugene Cross, 83 tahun, yang telah meninggal dunia pagi ini setelah menghadapi penyakit yang panjang.

Sejak menubuhkan Persatuan pada tahun 1987, Eugene mendedikasikan hampir empat dekad untuk memperjuangkan kebajikan rakyat Malaysia yang menghidap psoriasis dan artritis psoriatik. Sebagai seorang pesakit sejak tahun 1970, beliau didorong oleh keyakinan peribadi untuk memastikan mereka yang terjejas menerima pemahaman, pengiktirafan, dan sokongan yang lebih baik.

Beliau berjaya memastikan pendaftaran rasmi PAM, mewujudkan suara nasional yang kredibel untuk pesakit. Di bawah kepimpinannya, Persatuan memperluas jangkauan, memastikan ahli maklum tentang perkembangan rawatan, membina kerjasama di peringkat tempatan dan antarabangsa, serta memperjuangkan hak pesakit — termasuk usaha yang menyumbang kepada pelepasan cukai pendapatan bagi perbelanjaan rawatan berkaitan psoriasis.

Eugene akan diingati atas kepimpinan yang teguh, rendah hati, penyayang, dan keimanannya yang mendalam.
